Thinwall PVC Sanitation Pipe Source?

My boat uses a thinwall (1.7mm to 2mm) grey PVC pipe for airflow ducts from bilges. These are 75mm diameter, and are not interchangeable with US PVC pipes (closest is 3"). They are produced and sold in Chile by companies like Hoffens, Vinilit, and Tigre as "Tuberia PVC Sanitaria Gris". One example is Vinilit and an be purchased online at places like Sodimac: https://www.sodimac.cl/sodimac-cl/product/539287/Tubo-PVC-S-75mm-x-3m-Gris-Cementar/539287.

I'm trying to find a way to purchase from the USA without incurring huge costs for shipping and customs fees. Anyone know how to do this?

Re: Thinwall PVC Sanitation Pipe Source?

You didnt mention if 75mm is an ID or OD, maybe a 3" ID flex duct will work.
Check www.mcmaster.com, or maybe you can just wrap tape to make up the .05" difference?

Re: Thinwall PVC Sanitation Pipe Source?

The outside diameter of the 3" Schedule 30 thin wall PVC only differs by 1.2mm.

That part doesn't work?

I tried 3" parts from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HXHAMWO, they were much too large. I know that the difference shouldn't have been so much, but it was.

I believe it's OD due to a drawing from by Tigre of the bell end ID: https://www.tigre.com.br/en/node/393

DWV is a much thicker wall, and won't interface.

The Amazon page does not list the Schedule.

This Schedule 30 3" fitting at Lowes might be different.

Also, an airflow duct, using the slightly larger US 3" (76.2mm) versus International 75mm might be acceptable for the application using something like RTV adhesive, to fill the gap and to bond the parts.

Could you use 3” aircraft SCAT hose instead?
https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/scat.php
Not real cheap, but durable, flexible, won’t collapse like the cheap vinyl blower hose, smooth bore so very good air flow and very high temp resistance.

Would a flexible fitting let you join the different sizes.

Probably; but at least once they ran two pipes in parallel too closely to allow a thickwalled coupler like these.

You might want to check out the flexible tubing that many workshop equipment companies sell to work with woodshop dust extractors.

Re: Thinwall PVC Sanitation Pipe Source?

Mobile homes use thin wall 3” sewer line, it’s black and it’s not PVC I don’t think, but it’s cheap.
It’s ABS I believe, if your in Savannah there used to be a large Mobile home supply on hwy 17 on the way to Richmond Hill.

Re: Thinwall PVC Sanitation Pipe Source?

If u are careful, and have a male blank of the correct diameter, you can heat the PVC & expand the terminal 1” With the male blank to fit the PVC standard couplings, then use the big box store stuff for the rest of you run(s).
