Tank Tender

I am considering installation of a twin water tank and one diesel tank monitoring system. The Tank Tender seems like a sensible choice given the lack of complicated electrical systems.

Does anyone have any experience using the tank tender system??

Any help would be appreciated

The Hart Tank Tender is a functional & reliable system, particularily well suited to monitoring rectalinear tanks.

We used them for over ten years without the slightest problem. Really easy to install, but a bit of a challenge to figure the contents of the tank based on inches. It is easier in the long run to fill the tanks with a measured container and record the readings if the tank is an odd shape. Look to the right of the photo,

What waterway guy said...I love mine.
My advice would be to get one with enough ports for any and all tanks you can possibly add later.
Also...when you figure out how much hose/line you think you will need...add at least 50% more.

One of these systems was on the boat when I purchased it. It is a great simple no power required system. By having or doing a profile vs level you know exactly what is in your tanks at all times. I am presently using it for two fuel and one water tank. have one spare port for future developement. The tubing used is 1/8 in. od., for splicing use 1/8 in. compression fittings. Stainless or brass.

Thanks Gordy, Chuck and all! This is good feedback and it confirms another opinion that I have heard previously.

The incrementation of the tanks is a little harder to do but approximations are easier...

The Tank Tender is simple and its accuracy seems quite repeatable. The tube doesn't do well in black water tanks (what does?), but for water and fuel it's almost as good as a dip stick.

If you've got an unusual shaped tank, the best way to calibrate the unit is to put in premeasured amounts of liquid and record the gauge reading. Keep adding premeasured amounts until the tank's full, do a hard copy and post it next to the gauge.

Tank Tender also makes electronic versions that come with a 10 LED level display, powered pump, and a few other tweaks. These work well too.

Thanks cap, thats a good idea. The air activated one is probably the way I'll go, leaving the black water tank out of the mix....

I'm not sure why you would leave the black water out...IMO this is where the system really shines.
I have had no problem with my black water tube getting clogged.

Thanks James, our waste tank is polypropylene so we can actually see the level of the s*#& inside, not too attractive for guests but functional as it sits nice and pretty on the bulkhead!? I guess a cover would be in order soon.
