Stinkly Head Smells

There is a little whiff of head smell up front and at the aft of the boat. The head is port side aft. I have used the vingar, and the West Marine head better smelling such. I am wondering if the hoses need replacing, but why the smell in the front of the boat ( Vee bunk area)? The seacock for the head is midship. Any thoughts?

Take a rag and wipe the hoses, then smell the rag.

If the rag has "head smell", then it is time to replace the hoses.

There is a book written on the subject by the "Head Mistress". Forgot the exact name, but a Google search should find the book and the author.

The CSYMan has the proper test. Once the hoses stink through there is no known treatment other than an extraction - really. Once the hoses hit 15 years or more they die. Get the thickest hoses you can handle as replacements so you never have to do this job again. It really is a nasty job.

Five years tops on the lifespan of the hoses.....stop trying to figure out what the problem is...change the hoses!
