Spectra Ventura watermaker

Hi Sisters and Brothers! Just about to run a new to me Spectra 200 Ventura watermaker . Bought it used one in new condition and it looks like an older model, with only one, 5 micron pre filter while the same newer units all have 2. Wouldn't be wise to add 20 micron to it? Just asking and thank you for any input and advice

Re: Spectra Ventura watermaker

My experience, limited to one Spectra watermaker, is that they are not demanding. The junk appears to get flushed out with the brine.

All 200T manual units use a single 5 Micron pre-filter. The fully automated 200Ts use a 20 Micron and a 5 Micron. This has more to do with the sensors that read dirty filters and the pressure differentials between the two than the need for the 20 Micron for filtering. If your system is manual the single 5 Micron is perfectly fine. No need to add a 20 Micron.
