Spectra Feed Pump problem

Hello
I have a Spectra 200C , after winterizing it 6 months it doesn't want to make pressure and of course no production. I read on this fantastic forum lots of discussions and I appreciate the Tellie's knowledge and help.
After kink over my brine discharge hose the pressure goes to 125 PSI, so I trusted on my Feed pump, so I dismounted the Clark pump completely looking for something and I change all the seals, everything was good, but when I mounted it again and I tried it, the problem persists, so I continued reading and reading until I found a Tellie's message saying this:
When you kink over your brine discharge hose the pressure gauge should shoot up to around 125psi +/- a few pounds within a second to one and a half seconds, this is important. If it does not an say takes 5-6 seconds then the pump head is worn, if it goes up to say arbitrarily 80psi and just sits there and runs then the pump head is done.
Mine took between 5 or 6 seconds.
I can imagine that the problem is in the feed pump, mine is a Shurflo 8008-943-839.
So, one question, is this the only compatible feed pump with this system? Because I can't find it here in Colombia and I have to leave very soon.
Is there another options to look for?
Thank you very much everyone and specially Tellie.
Sorry for my English.
Wait for your answers.
Tonichi.

Re: Spectra Feed Pump problem

Yes, at 5-6 seconds to reach 125psi then it's the pump head to be sure. These are diaphragm pumps and they do get tired after a while, especially if they sit for long periods of nonuse. You shouldn't have to change the motor at all, just the pump head itself. The motor is important as it's a continuous duty motor designed to run for hours on end. It's always a good idea to have a spare pump head on board especially if you're headed far offshore.

Re: Spectra Feed Pump problem

Thank you very much Tellie.
I can imagine that my Feed pump is around 20 years old, maybe it's time to buy a need one or only the head?
What will you do?
Thanks again

Wow! 20 years is a long time for one pump head. Usually the motors are fine, but if it's 20 years old I would add that as well to your spares. The new motors come with a new pump head attached. I would suggest one of those and even a second spare pump head as well.

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Tonichi.

Spectra 200C pre-filter should be 5 microns [5 µm].
