Spectra 380C - Can I Order Parts??

I have a Spectra 380C watermaker.

I'm trying to move it from one boat to another. It's got the Zbrane, 2 pumps, a Clark pump, a remote monitor panel, plus a 10 wire control cable with Panel with switches for 2 pumps, backflush and salinity reject or good indicators.

Plumbing and control wires are running all over the boat and are next to impossible to reach or separate from other wires they are routed with.

QUESTION: Can I just cut this thing out and order new control cables and re-plumb everything?

Or... Is it too old to buy parts for?

Need to know ASAP because I have to remove it within 24 hours.

Thanks

We own two Spectra 380c watermakers. All the parts for our manual units are readily available. No problems at all. If you don’t want yours, I’d like to buy it off you.

Thanks for the input.

Unfortunately, I also want mine and plan to recommission it after this.

Nothing exotic about any of the cables. All off the shelf stuff. Whack em and make up new ones.

Any other Spectra specific parts you need can be ordered direct from Spectra or a Spectra rep.

These are very old electronic controls that are not supported any longer. The wiring is standard stuff as mentioned by belizesailor. But if these electronics fail your option would be to make this system a manually operated one. May be worth just doing it now.

Agreed. Thank you.

Is there a list of parts I should order from you or Spectra to take manual control, or should I just start designing it all myself?

Sure, chances are you have already have pretty much all you'll need to do this. Shoot me a PM and I'll give you the info.

Perfect is a stretch for any company, but a fine endorsement. I believe they are the best at service. But that being said, even with their excellent service there is nothing they will or can do if these electronics fail beside recommending a new unit.

Yeah. It was bought new in 2001.

Seeing as how it's basically a set of plumbing, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I got it for free, included with a boat purchase so why not use it?

Agree, why not. The Clark pump and other basic components still look very similar. It already uses analog gauges for pressure and flow. So, removing the old electronics (assuming they dont work?) and making it a manual system should be pretty straight forward...especially with some guidance from Tellie.

tt

I have used a completely manual 380C for 20 years and never thought there was any need for a more automated system. Unless it would remove and clean the filters for me!

Develop it and I could sell it and make us both wealthy.
