Source for 800 Watt heating core for Quick 40L boiler?

Hi,

we currently have a 40 Liter water heater of the brand "Quick" on board.

As we are downsizing the boats genset to a more reliable Honda Eu10i, we like to reduce the electric powered heating in the boiler to approximately 800W@220V.

Can anyone suggest where I can buy a heating element with approximately 800Watt which fits into this boiler?

There are some smaller ones but we want to get close to the max continuous rating of the small Honda Genset, which is about 800 Watt.

I know that it will take longer to heat [emoji4]
There are no inbuilt engines on the boat so cooling water is not an option.

I'd love to use an on demand LPG powered water heater instead but apparently they are not legal for a boat installation in Europe. [emoji22]

I would look into 12v and 24v elements that are about that size. They are popular as diversion loads for small wind installations.

On demand Diesel will not work for us, our engines are petrol and I prefer to not add another fuel.
Even though, it might be an idea to replace the Propane stove with a Diesel driven one and than get rid of the Propane altogether and replace it with Diesel.
Petrol for the outboard, Diesel for heating, cooking and hot water.
Are there fridges which can run on direct Diesel instead of Propane or electric power?

Did not think the 12V / 24V heating element would give enough power for heating water.
Still I'll look into it. Might be an option as each of us uses the shower only for 5mins in the morning. And it could heat therefore over 23hours...

Btw . I hate the solar shower bags.

Try www.svb.de the have also smaller 500-600 W electric heating coils on their website what may fit with the Quick.
I'm not sure if the Honda 1000w peak will work for long on 800 W as heating is sometimes special for inverters. eg. my 1500 W inverter go's out and in again with an 800W hairdryer.

Don't know where you are, but in the U.S., you can purchase at a good hardware store, because it's Marine, doesn't mean it's special, i just replace a heating element for a customer, purchased at a hardware store, it's 700 watts, and powered by a Honda generator, costs about $15.00. D C is not the way to go, as it pulls to much amperage. Never heard of a Diesel powered fridge, fridges that use a power source other than electrical [AC or DC], have a flame, could be a wick or a pilot light type of source, the wick would be a Kerosene and a pilot light type would be Propane. Assuming you are not in the states, as we use 110 here, or maybe you are, if so you can replace the 220 with a 110, the tank will no the difference, and anyway if you are powering the unit with the Honda it's all mute.

Hey thanks again, coincidentally I saw those heating elements in the SVB today as well.
Guess they will fit. Dimensions seem correct.

But the idea of Dougtiff with a normal hardware store seems even better.
I prefer solutions without a "Marine" price tag.

I guess your dryer draws a lot when powering up. That's why you do not choose a 1000w element but rather a smaller which should not max out the Honda.
