Skipper Head Rebuild

The manatee crew is determined to help owners save their head.
We have a new leather piston seal if you are rebuilding your Skipper. Send us a PM. We found a source much, much cheaper than currently on the web from the marine head specialty vendor.
What we need help to do is find a way of making the proper size duck bill or joker valve. Is there any way to do a DIY casting?

Lastly...anyone ever used a swing gate valve as a one way valve.
Only the Skipper head has no problems moving manatee biscuits.
Happy pumping.

Re: Skipper Head Rebuild

Is what you're calling "swing gate" valve the same thing as a flapper valve?

Re: Skipper Head Rebuild

No. We have no problem building that part nor the double flapper one.
We are looking at a check valve that has a swinging door inside a big bronze or stainless casting...it a plumbing part. Pretty heavy but so is the skipper.
We’ve seen plastic one way valves but the bronze plumbing valves are really strong. Not sure if they would close completely but if vertical, they probably will work. The duck bill valves are available in medical grade silicon in every size from China but we’d have to buy 100.LOL
Must be some DIY way to cast one up.
Thank you for the reply.
