Sealant AND rubber gasket

I just received a new plastic base for my Lavac Popular head to replace the old one, which had developed some cracks. I also purchased a new rubber gasket for the base/bowl interface. I mounted the new base, tightened the nuts on the mounting bolts, and tested for leaks. There were some, at the bolt holes, so I tightened a little more and rechecked. I continued this for a while, not wanting to overtighten the nuts in fear of cracking the plastic base. I got it to the point where there was just one tiny leak left, but didn't want to tighten the nut any more.

Does anyone know of a sealant that will adhere to rubber and porcelain, that I could use between the bowl and gasket?

Thanks.

Re: Sealant AND rubber gasket

I made a gasket for a Skipper head byallowing silicon sealer to cure between 2 pieces of wax paper, with the bowl sitting in place.
Have done the same with my Vetus intake strainer when the O-ring gave up the ghost.
Both still there after 14 yrs.
