I put two holding
tanks in my 1973
ketch that was originally constructed without
tanks. I selected the Todd tanks which I've been pleased with; however, I have no other
holding tank experiences. If you are converting the space to adapt a fit, be sure to secure the tank well. I added nylon tie-down straps in addition to a
wood framing support. I also selected the use of two vents to increase aeration. I've also been pleased with the
plumbing choice of having a
single path from the
head to the holding tank with no Y-valve. My effluent from the tanks includes a T-fitting led to the
pump out
deck fitting and a macerater to a through
hull (still no Y-valve). Compliance to regulation is achieved by removing the handle to the through
hull seacock in the closed position as well as having the access locker locked.
