Refrigeration Raw Water Strainer

The water in the area (Port Washington) is full of organisms and I find I have to clean the raw water filter to the three refrigerators (pumps) every three days to keep the water flow. Would a bigger strainer like the Groco ARG 750 help?.
Would it let too much silt through?
