Purasan macerated or mixer motor running loud

Hey everyone!

Looking to see if anyone has seen this. We have a purasan-ex, and it has (in the last two weeks) begun to run loud occasionally. The volume and magnitude of vibration associated with either the mixer or macerator motor running will increase to the point where it can be heard everywhere on the boat, when before hand you had to listen carefully to hear the system operating when standing over the unit. The volume increase isn't consistent either, and during the two minute treatment cycle will increase and decrease back to the origninal level multiple times.

I'm suspecting a failing bearing (we have had the unit for 2 years and live aboard so it sees extensive use) but I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this before I suite up and start tearing things apart.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Give Mac McCoy at Raritan a call. He's been my go-to person at Raritan since Vic Willman retired. He'll have the answers you need.

He's in their FL plant: 954-525-0378

Sounds good. Thanks Peggie! He figures there may have been something hung up, or some debris in the tank, but if the unit isn't blowing a fuse and the sound goes back to normal (which it has) its fine.

Had the same problem.

A "bobby pin" got stuck in it. After much complaining I serviced it, yuck, and all is well.
