Powersurvivor 40e oil change

Has anyone changed the oil in the drive unit of your 40e? There is no instruction for it in the manual but I just bough a new unit and want to tear it down and overhaul it.

That guy Gary has the video on how to do it.

Katadyn and PUR Watermakers: Installation, Maintenance and Troubleshooting

People hate on the thing but I like the 40e.

Thanks man I wish I had had that when I was taking the thing apart! I probably I screwed some stuff up! There is actually no instructions on changing the oil. He just tells you not to do it.

We've got one also, and I have no intention of ever changing the oil. It just doesn't generate enough heat to break down the lube, and there are no combustion gasses to dirty it up.

My maintenance so far has been pickeling it (in filthy tropical storm runnoff waters here), and.... looking at it?

I like to look at mine a lot too!

On a side note, I just called Katadyn because my piston shaft was defective (black ceramic chipping off) and even though I bought the unit used they are sending me a new one free of charge. The whole phone call lasted 30 seconds! That is customer service. Glad I went with Katadyn.

That mimics my maintenance regime. Clean it, stare at it, preserve it. We've got 285 hours on it and it has never been a problem.
