Re: Power sprayer as cockpit shower

Our shower is like Delancy’s, except I purposely sourced one that was black. This way it heats up well in the sun just like those sun-shower bags. If I store it under the dodger, out of the wind, it will heat up quite quickly in the direct sun. I also converted the sprayer nozzle to a sink sprayer to better control the flow.

Re: Power sprayer as cockpit shower

I use the solar bag shower. When it dies I'll switch to the pump up garden sprayer for multi purpose shower/deck/anchor chain washing.
Met a boater whose brand new boat's water heater sprung a leak in the coolant coils. Held him at the dock for a month. This is in Mexico- water heater????
Bag works great!

Re: Power sprayer as cockpit shower

I’ve often wondered how one of the rechargeable or 12 volt camping showers (like the one I linked to below), combined with siamese’s bucket routine would work.

Seems like a good way to leverage propane or shore power energy into a hot shower without much infrastructure.

Bummer, so much for the solar shower.

Did I mention I have an 11gal electric water heater and or the water heated via the engine?

Actually a half hour in the Mexican sun heats the water enough that I need to add tank water just to make it bearable.
I was just making up an excuse.........

It can be chilly at times, but it is invigorating too.

Of course the raw water shower depends on where I am, in regard to neighbors and water cleanliness.
And shampoo lathers well in salt water. Not so with soap.

In the UK on ebay... 5 gallon solar showers are $6-$20.
Buy 4 different ones and see which lasts.

Mine has been good for 2.5 years.

Re: Power sprayer as cockpit shower

Ive had one of these for a few years and its really good
https://www.amazon.com/Ivation-Multi...ressure+washer
The battery lasts long enough for several fills, 12v cable is long and if left in the sun the water will warm. Perfect for a cockpit shower or indeed a deck wash, the spray gun goes from wide and soft to reasonably powerful, probably enough to clear the gunk from you anchor....

Re: Power sprayer as cockpit shower

Don't do that. It is just one more thing to maintain and deal with. Keep life simple. Bucket with heated water if no sunshine or cold climate. Solar shower bag in warm climates.

I am not a big fan of making life more and more complex. Than you spend so much time maintaining, repairing, or replacing messed up stuff. Twenty thousand years of mankind using ambient temperature water for cleaning....last 20 years people now feel they need What? Sheesshh!

Re: Power sprayer as cockpit shower

I am old. I can put up with many things but, I insist on having a good, reasonably long 'hot' shower.

Re: Power sprayer as cockpit shower

On the web; Check out 'The DuckWorks' it's a company that makes and supplies for small boat builders. Search 'shower' They make a special shower with a special head used on small boats.
Alternatively, Go to Home Depot and look in the Paint Department for a Wood & Stain Sprayer. It will look like a bug sprayer but will have a black tank instead of a white one and will have a higher output. That will be better for heat absorption and supply a better shower. You can always heat a little water on the stove to heat it up if the sun does not get it hot enough. About $20.00 Been using it for years.
