Plastimo water bladder

Now four sailboats in, I'm back to my introductory vessel -- a MacGregor 26x for inland and coastal cruising. I'm renovating and upgrading it to accommodate comfort and convenience. The empty Plastimo 26-gallon water bladder has not been used for more than 3 years, and I'm wondering if that extended non use might have left it icky inside, or perhaps even cracked and leaky. Plan to remove it for flushing and cleaning, but wondered if users with experience with Plastimo bladders would agree that cleaning would suffice, or if it should just be replaced.

Wash it well and smell the water then. If the smell is OK then that's that.

PS there are special tablets that disinfect the tank in like 24 hours, while others use homebrew methods. Act accordingly seeing what the tank looks like.

Hi.I replaced all my Plastimo bladders with Vetus bladders.Far better quality!
Put a plastic mesh underneath and secure with fishing net from the top.
Spreads the load if it wants to move and reduces wear on it.
First season the water taste a bit plasticy though....
