Old thru hulls and seacocks?

If the fittings on an older boat ('81 Ericson for example) are green(ish), does that mean they are brass instead of bronze or do both materials turn green with age?

Re: Old thru hulls and seacocks?

Bronze turns green, some brass will or may turn reddish also. My guess is they are bronze. Are tehy tapered seacocks, ball valves, gate valves or what?
