New Jabsco toilet leaks

New boat with manual Jabsco toilet. Been seeing water at the low part of the head, small amounts, but couldn't figure out why until I noticed small amounts of water where the base of the toilet is. Looked at the hoses to see if they were wet, maybe water intake wasn't secured etc., but they are dry.

Before I take everything apart, just wanted to see if there anyone had some advice on this...

See pics (sorry, hard to see the water)

Do you think anyone may have added an ethanol-type pink antifreeze to the toilet to winterize it? If so, it may have deteriorated some of the rubber parts causing a small leak.

Marine/RV antifreeze (pink) is Propylene Glycol, not Ethanol and shouldn't impact hoses, gaskets or O-rings in marine plumbing.

Re: New Jabsco toilet leaks

Actually there are two types of "pink" antifreeze. One is propylene glycol and the other is ethanol based. The pg based one should not degrade rubber, while the ethanol type can degrade rubber parts.

Re: New Jabsco toilet leaks

I had an annoying leak around the base of my Jabsco as well. Had a small hairline crack around the toilet base bolts. Replaced the base this year and no more leaks.

Should be under warranty from the boat manufacturer? Let them deal w/ Jabsco to replace or fix.
