Mold in water system

Does keeping hoses, tanks, and pumps filled with water reduce mold growth?

Re: Mold in water system

In my 1957 Ohlson yawl, I opened the top access on the water tank and washed the inside of it with a new sponge and dish soap.

It definitely improved the taste of the boat's water.

Add about 8 drops per gallon of household bleach and it will not grow anything.

Re: Mold in water system

is it mold or does it just smell bad? mine had bad odor problem and was fixed using STAR BRITE Aqua Water Treatment & Freshener. It may take a few months but it worked for me. Helps with slime too.

Re: Mold in water system

if you then pump it out, after 2 hrs., it will also sanitize the inside of the hoses, etc.

Peggy Hall has written that you should actually flush it all out, too, then re-fill.
