Looking for Unusual Hinge

Hi,

I have several of these hinges on my boat I need to replace. I have found a similar one on google but the width of the ones I have found is 4cm not 5cm that I need.

Also note on the picture below that the screw holes are not aligned - odd.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement - doesn't have to be alloy.

(The dimensions are hard to read in the photo : 8cm short flap, 12 cm long flap, width 5cm)

Looks to be home made. Fosters might be your best bet or try ANZOR.

Re: Looking for Unusual Hinge

Looks like a hinge made by YS Fittings in UK back in the days when they were owned by Jack Holt. I looked at the Allen Brothers website (they manufactured and Holt's distributed) but a quick look didn't help. Send you pics to them, they might be able to make a blank undrilled one for you to match the holes.

Re: Looking for Unusual Hinge

That would make sense. The boat was manufacturered on that side of the world.

Cheers

Re: Looking for Unusual Hinge

Why bother? Get a hinge that matches or overlaps the existing, poxy the holes and drill new ones as needed.

Re: Looking for Unusual Hinge

The screw holes are not aligned because the tangs are of different lengths.

These types of hinges are available, although they may be copies of the original designs. I replaced mine though on any application where strength was essential.

Re: Looking for Unusual Hinge

the holes do not line up so it will not split the wood when screwed into a board running perpendicular to the hinge
