Leaking fresh water pressure pump

I have a jabsco parmax 4 fresh water pressure pump it it is leaking when under pressure - I thought it was the strainer but i took a video and it looks like it is coming from around the pressure switch (the blue block). I don't want to dismantle the pump if not necessary - is this an o-ring issued inside the pump or something worse?

Re: Leaking fresh water pressure pump

It appears in your video that the seal is failing at the high end of the pressurization indicating that the switch is possibly either partially clogged or just failing. Do you have a pressure gauge to verify cutoff pressure?
Easy to replace switch, 2 screws inside cover. Jabsco website should have pictures of disassembly if necessary.

Here go. They're not rocket science. You can open it and repair it.

Re: Leaking fresh water pressure pump

Thank you @turtle_blues and @tkeithlu. I don't have a pressure gauge but could pick one up easier (that might move me forward on a garden irrigation project...)

I think (hope it is just the seal. The pump does get to pressure (albeit noisily at the end) and a slower leak from that area ensues.

Will investigate replacing the seal or switch.

Re: Leaking fresh water pressure pump

So it was the pressure switch (there was a crack in the switch. I purchased and installed a replacement pressure switch but now the lump runs constantly (never pressurizes). I will investigate a pressure gauge to see if it is getting to 40psi but if anyone else has any ideas... (I marked the wires to ensure I plugged them into the right spot... I believe.

Re: Leaking fresh water pressure pump

Make sure that the diaphragm is seated correctly and then prime the pump. Trapping even a tiny bubble of air will cause problems. 2nd possibility is that there is something wrong or clogged in the piston section but it was previously working so that should not be an issue.
