Katadyn 40E relief valve blow-out

Hi,
I have a Katadyn 40E 12vdc water maker. It was pickled for 6 months. Upon restarting the system, the relief valve blew out of the cleaning/relief valve body. After carefully cleaning and re-assembling the valve to the body, it happened again twice, three times total. This happens nearly immediately upon start up, after few than 8-10 strokes of the pump. Threads on the relief valve look fine, and so do the threads inside the body, such as I can see them inside.

The watermaker was installed in November 2015. It has 360.3 run hours. Before pickling it was working fine and producing water to spec.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like it can't pass brine ovbd. Maybe go through the whole cleaning process again. Blowing the valve out of the unit, that is weird. Those parts are plastic? Are the threads shot?

Guy
You may well have lead to the problem and solution. There is a valve in the brine discharge line, well hidden deep in the holding tank locker, that was shut off. Shut off 6 months ago and forgotten. Opening that valve seems to have corrected the problem. Watermaker has been running for 30 minutes now, with about 2 litres of fresh water output. All good so far, and good on you. Thanks for the idea.
