Jabsco 31295/32600 Pumps

Hi every one
I bought this pump one month ago as a fresh water pump and placed it in the bilges.
I then found out that it doesn't like condensation. The terminals have turned a lovely green colour and the micro switch no longer operates , although the motor operates OK it will not switch off.
There is no protection of the terminals from moisture.
Not a good idea in a marine environment , I would suggest.
As a relatively expensive item by a well known brand I wouldexpect something a little more robust.
Has any one else had this problem ?

The manual says simply not to immerse the pump.
