Looking for info on the performance of modular, drop in refrigerators, like those made by
Isotherm and Dometic. Specifically, will they keep
food at safe temperatures (<40º F).
My
boat was built with a massive ice chest. One of the previous owners cut out half the
insulation and installed a 75l Dometic chest style fridge/freezer. It works well enough, but the install looks like crap and I’d like more capacity.
Boat is kept in
Florida and sailed frequently in the
Caribbean.
My preference is a drawer style fridge, such as the
Isotherm Drawer 85 or 130. Although, I wouldn’t
rule out a drop in chest or door style.
Online
reviews are very limited, but several indicate that these units may not be able to stay cold in warmer climates.
