I just take everything out and put it in the sink and turn off the freezer. Then put the hair dryer in the box, turn on (it's on a shelf), and let it blow 3-5 minutes. Then the ice on the top just breaks off and the ice on side side slide off with a wooden ruler. Scoop out the ice, sponge whatever water, put the stuff back in and turn the unit back on.

10 minutes every week on so. It gets hard to find the time
