Hot Water Pressure - Change since last season

Hey guys,

Just finished de-winterizing my fresh-water system and noticed something strange. When my freshwater pump gets up to pressure the motor turns off and the system works as expected - as long as I have the spigot turned to cold water. As soon I turn it to hot water - it starts acting strangely. Note that I have not turned on the heating element yet. The "hot" water runs fine but when I turn it off the pump runs for another 5-7 seconds until it turns off. Also, if I turn the freshwater pump off at the breaker panel (after getting the system up to pressure) I can run the "hot" water side for a good 40 seconds until it loses pressure. It has never acted like this in the three seasons that I've had my boat. I'm assuming that I am somehow over-pressured in the hot water heater - but can't imagine how since the heating element is not on and thus no thermal expansion. I'm left scratching my head here....can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Note: My hot water heater is an Atwood EHM6-SM

sounds like an airpocket in the waterheater. Open the over-pressure relieve valve while the pressure pump is on and let the air out.

Thanks - great suggestion. Unfortunately though - I just tried it and the issue persists.

Some systems are fitted with an anti scale valve

The clog and restrict water flow
