High Pressure Bypass Switch on Refrigeration System

Hi,

My Grunert DC Compressor fridge/freezer system has just stopped working the day before a week long passage ...

There is power to the thermostats and they click appropriately if you adjust them down in temp.

The system was recharged professionally last week and pressure tested with no problems. No bubbles in the sight glass.

However, if I turn on the "high pressure bypass" switch the compressor magically starts to work. I suspect this is a bad idea to operate this way ...

Help ?

Re: High Pressure Bypass Switch on Refrigeration System

High pressure switch is designed to prevent explosion type damage to a refrigerant system, compressor overheating and personal injuries. This switch only operates when condenser cooling is not adequate due to poor cooling water flow or someone has added too much refrigerant. On a holding plate system sight glass is normally not clear until holding plates starts to get cold.
