Help - Zen (50) watermaker making VERY loud humming noise

Hi there!
We've recently had a Zen50 watermaker installed by a professional companies in France.

The Zen50 is rated to make 50 liter an hour - which it does. The 'normal' sound is makes is as expected; it's constant humming with a 'click' every 4 seconds following from the pumps hitting their limit. All good in that respect.

Video of the Zen: https://youtu.be/xOiOQEdZa_0
note: the overall sound levels are very high in the video as the lid of the engine room is open. When you close it; the 'normal' sound of the watermaker is still noticeable when at anchor but not under sail. The weird loud noise if noticeable even when motoring...

However ours also makes a VERY loud hum every now and then. I've already purged the air and went through the restart procedure via the manual. There's no (visible) air in the ducting; strainers etc so it's not sucking air.

The pressure it's operating at is 7 bar which is correct and the watermaker does produce around the 50 liters an our...

Anyone with a similar problem and possibly a fix?

Re: Help - Zen (50) watermaker making VERY loud humming noise

* Problem Solved *

There were 2 hose clamps left over after the installation. They slid under the watermaker and generated a loud humming sound when the resonated at different vibrations.

The second source or loud humming was the filter hitting the inside of the hull. You may find this useful when eliminating noise on your watermaker.

It was not an issue with the watermaker itself; just the installation.

Glad you solved it, Marcok. You just demonstrated the remarkable resonant properties of fiberglass hulls.
