Frigoboat K50F and Controller compatibility

Greetings,

I have Frigoboat K50F (keel cooled) with a smart speed control. The unit operates on either 12 volt or 110 volt depending upon available power through a Danfoss/Secop controller. Very happy with it, however after more than 20 years of good service, the compressor has failed and must be replaced.

In looking for a replacement, I'm finding new K50F compressors with 12/24 volt manual or 12/24 volt smart speed controllers, but none with a controller that also supports 110 volt.

Here is my question to you. If I buy a manual unit, can I simply swap out my current controller? From internet pictures, it looks like the controllers are plug and play.

I ended up calling VECO-NA and they directed me to their troubleshooting and tech support page:

Great resource for others with a Frigoboat unit. Turns out the compressor failure was just the result of trying to start the unit when the box was hot.

One call to VECO saved me $1000 that would have been misspent. All it took was three bags of ice to get it running again!
