Fridge gets colder as the temp increases?

My fridge is a Norcold model SCQT-3407D. It has a strange feature - as the outside temperature gets hotter, it runs colder!

Yesterday the outside temperatures were in the 80's. My milk and orange juice are now frozen solid. I have it set at 1.

Earlier this spring when the outside temps were in the 50's I tried to keep a pint of ice cream. I turned the unit all the way up and had the ice cream hard up against the cooling plate. In one hour it was soup.

What's going on?

How different is the ventilation on your boat between the cold and the hot temperatures. How is your cabin heated?

Your fridge appears to have a mechanical thermostat and they can be effected by the ambient changes. Suggest you replace it with a digital thermostat, they are inexpensive, accurate and far more reliable. Try looking for an Elitech STC8000.

There is also a chance that your fridge is a tad low on gas but replace the thermostat first.
