Finding drain plugs.... for sinks (galley)
I am stuck! My galley sink (which is a double extra deep that we really like)
is down to one strainer / plug / basket, and the rubber seal is finished. I have searched online and cannot find one with a 2-3/4" diameter.
Looks just like an everyday kitchen sink drain plug basket strainer, only smaller.
I must be looking in all the wrong places. Tried RV sites, boat sites....
Any ideas?

Re: Finding drain plugs.... for sinks (galley)
Went through this last winter. There is nothing I could find. Either upsize to 3.5” drain or down to 2”.

How do you upsize or downsize? the sink has a flange that is too small for a 3.5 and too large for a 2".... What was your solution?

I had a local shop weld a flange with a 2” hole into the existing. Does not leak but not ideal. This afforded me the option to go and have it cut out to 3.5” (maybe this off season) and the shop will lend me the die to flare the opening as their press will not fit into my sink. I will use a 20 Tom hydraulic jack (own one) and find something heavy enough to press the die and hopefully flare the opening. Then I will have a 3.5” opening that I can purchase hardware for just about anywhere.

Wow,
You must love that sink!
I think I'll go with an easier solution for me (don' have access to any dies)
First I'll see if they are available in the UK when I am there in October (lots of different from North American sized stuff over there).
Failing that, I think I'll buy the oversized baskets with the right post and rubber seal, then get one of my smarter than me pals to print up the baskets on a 3D printer.
Or ultimately someone will read this thread and say "Hey I know where to buy those..."

14” deep double sinks are hard to come by. A replacement sink with baskets would run me over $1600.00. This cost $150 and they probably won’t chafge to punch the larger holes. Check with a local metal shop. Chances are they have dies for a sink then off to the hardware store for drains.

A photo would help. The size of the drain is immaterial until we see what it looks like.
Bar sink drain or Ambassador-type?

Don’t have one on me. Doesn’t look good but it functions. Again I will go bigger if I find the time this winter.

Here are the "Originals" Outside diameter is 2-3/4"
I looked at bar sinks... no luck there, they seem tall and narrrow. Not sure what an Ambassador style is.

Re: Finding drain plugs.... for sinks (galley)
A simple fix might be to use the old fashioned rubber flap sink stopper.
Rubber Stopper
These have worked perfectly for ages on every type of sink out there.

My rough opening on the sink was 2-7/8” so slightly larger than yours. Still an odd size. Maybe you’ll have better luck than me.

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.
