Dual Shore Power / Engine Pulley Driven Compressor

I was just curious to know if anyone has heard of a compressor that can be driven either by a shore powered electric motor or by an engine pulley connection.

This would be for an air conditioning system / dehumidifier.

Re: Dual Shore Power / Engine Pulley Driven Compressor

No, but maybe an electrically driven compressor could be piped in parallel with an engine driven compressor and get the job done. I think the valves on the compressors would prevent refrigerant gasses from flowing backwards through one of the compressors while the other was running. Otherwise maybe one way check valves could be place inline for each compressor. I am not a refrigeration expert, but you could at lest look into the idea.
