Re: Domestic Air Conditioner High Humidity

Compressor runs everytime the thermostat tells it to run. Until the thermostat tells it to stop. Some day it will fail. But now no symptoms of that.

Re: Domestic Air Conditioner High Humidity

OK, so here is the report back. We spent the last two days traveling from Chub Cay, Berry Islands to crossing back to US, to Dinner Key, Florida. It's hotter here, and maybe more humid. Left the boat or a while today with the port hull space air conditioned from sleeping quarters thru the aft head. Humidity was around mid 80's at start. Put a rag in the dorade vent and left the three fans on plus the cabinets with clothes open. Came back in the afternoon and the AC was at the 70 deg set point, the humidity was 62%, and the AC pan was full of water and had overflowed into the bilge. So everything working fine, except had to clean out the condensator so it siphoned the pan water overboard - which it does now. And dry out the bilge! So everything good. THANKS FOR ALL OF THE REPLIES AND EDUCATION.

Re: Domestic Air Conditioner High Humidity

OK, back in Florida. Air conditioner still chilling well. We run the ac fan on continuous, and the compressor and water pump just kick on when the temp goes above set point.

So here's my question. This may be normal, but infrequently the air conditioning unit - including fan - will shut off for about a minute. Goes quiet. The water circulating pump still continues, and then the air conditioner and fan come back on. Is this normal?

That is not normal. Especially the compressor turning off for a short time an then back on.
