On the U.S.S. Saratoga the fresh water tasted mildly of fuel
(jet fuel, I thought, but maybe fuel oil). The solution was to drink coffee or red fruit punch (AKA bug juice), never plain water! To the ship's credit, the galley
made amazing fresh bread and cinnamon rolls, so all was forgiven.
Anyway, how about one of those fuel-eating enzyme cleaners? They remove diesel
fuel stains from clothes, concrete, boat
bilges, and so forth. They're supposed to be non-toxic.
