In the EEZ - that implies waters beyond 12 miles from shore.

Re: Canadian Sewage Discharge Rules

The only thing I can add is the the Canadian Coast Guard does not accept a composting head as a marine sanitation device.

It should also be noted that an Electro-Scan does not meet canadian standards for treated sewage discharge ... Note the correction at the end of this article:

Re: Canadian Sewage Discharge Rules

Although the US regs only require a Type I MSD (ElectroScan or PuraSan) to reduce the bacteria count to a max of 1000/100 ml, the ElectroScan and PuraSan actually reduce it to < 10, which is considerably lower than the 200 required from a Type II. Unfortunately the Canadians based their "assessment" of Type I devices on the legal requirement for both Types instead of doing enough research on the Raritan Type Is to learn that that they do a better job than the Type II (needed only on boats 66' and larger in the US) that they do allow.

Then you can't legally drink on your boat without a "Fixed Toilet".

They've got us coming and going.

Do they have a statement on this? As a Canadian who has composters on board and know many who also do... I'd like to know what makes you say this?
