We used to but ice on the "Swamp Coolers" we used in the .... well... I cannot tell you where .....but it took a lot of ice!

I remember something similar that sat on the transmission hump of a relative's station wagon. Didn't seem to work very well. It is primarily blowing air over ice, providing cool air until the ice melts. GoCool claims it removes humidity, but I don't see how it would. That thing holds a lot of ice and takes up a ton of space. Seems like a lot of work, especially dealing with the ice.

Found this site Portable air conditioning - 12 volt - air conditioners - Evaporative coolers and looking into it as well as a temporary fix. Maybe with enough cool packs and block ice it would last for a day or two away on Superior anchored. For the price it might be worth a try versus spending the big bucks. Hopefully someone else has info on these they could chime in.
