230v/240v water heaters

Is there any issue with using a standard 240v US style (split phase) water heater wired to 230v (single phase) supply. The US model is really supplied by single phase 240v with no neutral so does the element care? I realize that the voltage may be 10v lower but that would just lover the current draw wouldn't it?

I want to install a standard NA 230 volt water heater in a 50hz 230 volt electrical supply. They are both single phase really, any problems?

Since the heater element is a resistive it really won't care about the frequency. And the voltages are the same within the standard tolerances. Split-phase vs hot/neutral also makes no difference, especially installing a split-phase device on a system with a hot/neutral (one leg that is "expecting" a hot connection will be zero instead).

If there are any electronic controls associated with the heater that is a separate can of worms. Probably OK, but there is a potential for frequency to be an issue.
