I have a Rule 2000 and a Rule 3700 pump permanently installed in the bilge with 2 float switches at different levels. Also a small electric "sump-pump" to get the last few drops out.
Then there is a the "Gusher" manual bilge pump.

Don't consider the above "overkill" and if I had room in the bilge I would put another pump in there.

Reminds me of the time I really, really, really had to get up early one morning:

I was in a New York hotel room and had asked the hotel operator for a wake-up call. Also had two alarm clocks set to ring at the same time.

Guess what: The wake-up call never came and one of the alarm clocks did not ring as the battery went dead that night...The last alarm clock saved the day and got me out of bed.

Not going to gamble my boat on just one bilge pump, or just one float switch...

Also have 2 bright red lights in the cockpit, one for each bilge pump.
Hope I never see both of them illuminated at the same time....
