10 yrs+ old "Never used" Spectra Watermaker

Dear Community, hope you will enlighten me on the issue of my water maker. This Spectra Catalina 300 Mk2 came with the boat which I bought 6 yrs ago and according to one of the previous owners (they were four) it has never been used.

If that is correct, can I only go through the standard start-up procedures and run?

The previous owners also had a skipper on board while the boat was in the Med and the Caribbean, so it could be he used it without the owners knowing about it.
The worst case scenario is it was used and never pickled afterwords. In such case, do I need to replace also the osmotic filter?

We will leave Scandinavia on a right hand turn around the Atlantic next fall so I'd like to have it Ship Shape by then.

Nothing to loss by starting it up and letting it flush and see what happens. But I would expect there to be an issue to occur.

You can always give me a call. The Catalina300MKII was a good system. There are still a lot of them out there working great. Well worth taking a look at and fixing anything needed. We can even up the production 3gph with a newer feed pump head.
