Yanmar sd50 Fixed Prop Suppliers

Here would be the best place to buy 2 fixed props for Sd 50 saildrives?
We are heading for Asia where there is not much wind so i figure the fixed props will be better than our folding Gori?
18 inch diameter is what we have now

Re: Yanmar sd50 Fixed Prop Suppliers

Apparently you need to be careful with fixed props on SD50's (as I am finding out!) ..if you acelerate after hoisting the main ..ie when bearing off .. you need to make sure the props are in neutral straight away and retract otherwise the increase in speed can throw them into reverse and damage the cones in the gearbox...

Maybe best I just stick with my 3 blade Gori props then?
It's just going into an area with very little wind I figure that fixed would perform bette?

Re: Yanmar sd50 Fixed Prop Suppliers

Talk to your Yanmar agent - I have a problem which I havent got to the end of yet ..so taking my word as gospel is prob premature..but I have heard what i described as a potential issue...guess if u are aware it minimises the problem ..know when we lower the leg still under sail b4 dropping the main the props do make a noise when you are clipping along at 7-8 knots...
