Yanmar Kanzaki KM2-A to KM2-P swap

I most likely will have to replace my transmission for my Yanmar 2GMF. Current gearbox is a Kanzaki KM2-A 2.62 ratio which in nearly impossible to find. (If you have one for sale, please let me know ASAP. Current date is 4/25/'22)

I see plenty of Kanzaki KM2-P transmissions for sale in 2.62 ratio. Will the P series fit a 2GM block that had an A series KM2?

I believe so, I have a 2GM20F from 1987 and its mated to a KM2-P.

My engine is a 2GMF. I did call Yanmar Corp. yesterday and oddly they said the output shaft on the P has a 7 degree angle on the output side. Also, the input shaft sticks out more on the A over the P from the bell housing in a side by side photo a shop sent me. So. maybe the flywheel is different between the 2GM/2GMF vs the 2GM20F.

The KM2P is the newer version of the KM2A. They are not interchangeable, as the depth of the attached bellhousing is different. Earlier 2GM series engines will only accept the KM2A. Joe
