Where to purchase traditional stuffing box/packing gland?

Greetings! My old bronze stuffing box needs replacement, and while I can find PSS shaft seals at every vendor, I am having trouble finding a traditional bronze shaft seal.

Whereabouts online can a quality stuffing box be purchased?

If you are in the eastern US try Jamestown Distributors, good resource for boat building supplies. Also any good prop shop should have that.

I avoid that place whenever possible. They don't have prices next to the products on the shelves for a good reason, haven't gotten anything there that wasn't a rip-off compared to what can be purchased online. I've actually found items that were cheaper at West Marine than Marine Supply!

Interesting. Things have certainly changed since I was there years ago.
Thanks for your reply.

I am glad you asked this question and started this threat...we were just talking about this yesterday after my husband crawled out of our 'engine room'. This is a big help. I should have thought of Jamestown-they are a good resource.

Good luck, I made mine on the lathe.

You might want to enquire at a machineshop for a handmade one.
Bring your old one. You could be surprised at what price they could make one.

What size shaft and what size hose would you use? I have a used one I'll part with cheap- its for a 1" shaft.
