Volvo seal - to irrigate or not?

Thanks jmtindle3, svHyLyte, Snowpetrel for replies. My Volvo seal isn't damaged, yet. But plan to follow manufacturers instructions and replace, it's time, although still apperars in good condition. jmtindle3, do you have the hull through with sea cockpit piped to a nipple (you referred to "tube") immediately aft of the seal?

The seal I have used have no tubes. They are just a one piece rubber unit that slips on the shaft. It is held on to the boat by s special hose clamp supplied by volvo. The part number for the 30mm shaft is MD2040D complete kit. Hope this helps
