volvo MD17c with an MSB reverse gear
Good morning,
I have a volvo MD17c with an MSB reverse gear. The gear has stopped engaging in forward. The gear has been removed and the shop is telling me the cone shaped liner in the gear has gone bad and is no longer available. Ultimately this is starting to look extremely expensive as the gear cannot be rebuilt. Has anyone run into this with good result? What did you find and do to for a solution. Any help would be so appreciated.

I wonder if a brake and or clutch re-lining shop could bond in a new one for you?

celestial, thank you. I think the biggest problem is the unavailability of the liner itself. any thoughts?

Not really...But I would take it to a place that does linings and see if it is possible. I hope I'm aiming you in the right direction.

Years ago I had one done - a good lining shop should be able to procure shaped material and bond it into place.
