I would like to know the TQ rating for both the T2 and 930 so that I could quantify the general agreement that the 930 is the business. Most buggies I have seen use the T2 with the real serious ones using the 930 CV's
The 934 CV OTOH is a very serious bit of kit

I have a pair of both in my garage and it would be nice to use what I already own. As there is a pair and I need only 1, there would be a spare on board in the unlikely event that it ever went bang

Re: u-joints on prop shaft?

I may have answered my own question. Good thing I am retired and have lots of time to research this type of thing!

GKN were the pioneer of CV joints, and a huge worldwide manufacturer of CV joints.
I noticed Aquadrive systems on a GKN site?

GKN seem to be the OEM for the Type 2 and 930 CV joints, but not 100% sure?
T2 are 100mm x 33 spline x 18 degrees max angularity per joint x 30 wide
930's are 108mm x 28 spline x 22 degrees x 40

TQ in Nm = (KW /RPM) x 9680 x Reduction ratio
For the Beta 90 and a 2.2:1 gearbox this is 685 Nm
Type 2 CV joints at 2900 Nm should be fine and a lot cheaper than 930's
Note the 11mm plunge depth or the amount of axial movement permitted per joint to accommodate any fore/aft movement of the engine/shaft

The trick will be getting the jackshaft machined using the proper material.
Impossible I bet in the Philippines, and the best will be milled splines on a length of HTSR steel I ship over myself
T1/T2 axles are larger on the splines than the shaft and act like a torsion bar under heavy shock loads. Impossible therefore to shorten

I would not count on Chinese T2 replacement CV joints being this strong!

Re: u-joints on prop shaft?

It would appear that Aquadrive is made by GKN?

Aquadrive - Marine - GKN Land Systems

http://www.gknservice.com/fileadmin/...talogue_GB.pdf

Note the CV15 sized joint rated at 1625 Nm max static torque
The CV10 size is 1300 Nm

I think that I will stick with VW Van Type 2 CV joints from a quality German or Japanese manufacturer. No Chinese repro joints thank you

Re: u-joints on prop shaft?

Found this grease ring to allow greasing of the CV joint while installed
looks like it goes between the rubber boot and joint:

For Type 2, 930 and 934 joints

FD 12, S/N should be included in last numbers of vin.
Great boat, I have sailed several thousand miles on hull # 24, which was owned by the builder.
