Stuffing box hose

Well my father and I are stuck on a hose issue. I decided it was time to redo the stuffing box on his Ericson 30 with an A4. The boat has a .75" shaft but it has a 1.25" stuffing box (hose nipple dia) and stern tube. It seems that Stuffing box hose is only made down to 1.5". My father called Trident and Shields Hose and they are both recommending 1.25" exhaust hose which was my thought as well my only real concern is that 1.25" hose is only 2 layer hose the one I peeled off (literally it came apart as I tried to pull it off) was at least 3 layers.

Any one out there have any thoughts? Right now I'm leaning towards the exhaust hose and inspecting it once a year.

Re: Stuffing box hose

Thats funny the local prop shop and marine stores all said 1.5" was the smallest. Some how I missed it on Bucks website while searching it out. Thanks for the help I will try and see if I can get it somewhere by this weekend.
