As I feared, that part alone is 290$. The folks do seem wonderful but replacement parts are too much for my budget
. And I still need few more parts in addition to the rotating cutter. The cost of new unit is in the 400$+ range. So i have to say that on my previous boat
i installed a shaft shark in 2003 and it still works. Design is simple and its hard to imagine a circumstance where an accident
would destroy a shaft shark the way this got totaled. Next time i'm at a boat show
i might bring the remnants to the Spurs booth. Looking at the pieces, it seems very easy to sever both rotary cutters, essentially what happened to this one.
