SD 25 High Copper in Oil analysis

Being an engineer, I tend to overdo things, so I pulled some oil from my SD 25 sail drive for analysis at the 500 hour mark. It shows high copper content, and the report suggests "bearings or seals". I assume it's probably from a clutch/copper washer that I see as a weak spot on the 50/60 models? Is the basic design the same on the 25?

Any ideas where to start? I'll pull the drive once hurricane season fades and I can haul out for a while. Thanks a bunch.

The design of the 25 is completely different than the 40/50. It uses a dog clutch, nt a cone clutch and internally is essentially identical to an SD20 from my understanding. Exploded diagrams for the sd25 are hard to find, but sd20 diagrams are readily available.

There does not appear to be a thrust washer in the clutch mechanism that causes the problems on the 40/50.

Is the shifter foot brass? Or the shift dog....

Pull the shift cover off the side of the upper housing and check for wear.
