Saildrive Through Hull Sealing

Here is a picture of the seal on my saildrive which is looking a bit worse for wear.

What product would I use to refill the seal, regular sylicon gel or is there s a special marine sylicone filler for this ?

Normally you would not use a sealant. There is a rubber fairing piece that goes there.

I would check the condition of the bellows (big rubber seal inside) while you are at it. Thats what actual keeps the sea on the outside.

Re: saildrive through hull sealing

belizesailor is right you have ineer diaphragm for sealing.
Give us your saildrive brand and type.
If you like to add silicone there try Sikaflex 295i, it is used for sea water, keel sealing etc.

Re: Saildrive Through Hull Sealing

I dont think you should have any sealant there. The drive is gonna move and loosen up anything you put there. In addition to the big rubber seal on the inside of the hull there should be a rubber flap that goes over the leg and glues to the hull. This is only to fair the connection to the hull and keep stuff (but not water) out of the join.
