Replacing control cables advice needed

I have a Seawind catamaran in need of a replacement of the shift control cable on the port engine. The PO advised me to get a SeaStar Solutions 33C Red-Jacket control cable. I am having a little trouble sourcing one. I have run across a SeaStar XTREME CCX63317 which is advertised as an OEM replacement that will accept a 4" minimum bend which seems better than the 8" minimum bend the Solutions cable will accept. There is a small, but minimal price difference between the two.

As a total noobie about control cables I am trying to figure out which part is the best choice for long term cruising. If another brand is better than either of these two I have no problem going with that option.

Any advice welcome. Mods I hope this is the best sub forum for this question.

Re: Replacing control cables advice needed

We use plain teleflex cables and they last ... until they die. Which is about 5 to 10 years depending on how wet the environment is.

Cheers,
