replacing a Beneteau prop

We lost our prop and I am putting the new one on. Does anyone know what direction the lock washer faces. I assume it catches the end of the key then bends over the prop nut.

Anyone advice on this will be much appreciated.

It was just put back on..clearly not correctly.
